Michele's Marathon Crusade

A marathon, you say?

Am I crazy? Maybe, but nobody said life was without its challenges.

Nearly 107,000 Americans found out last year just how much of a challenge their lives would become when they were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.

My goal, as a member of Team in Training, is to help raise as much money as possible to help combat these blood related cancers.

So far, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's work is helping - Leukemia patients' five-year survival rate has tripled since 1960.

Yes, running (and completing) a marathon is a goal for me, but I hope to also help achieve Team in Training's goal of finding cures for blood-related cancers.

Keep an eye on my diary entries. I'll try and keep them updated as I go through this, so that you can sympathize with me as I conquer the running and fundraising challenges!

I'll be running in the San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon on June 1, 2003. My goal is to finish in under six hours. Feel free to sign my guestbook, stay tuned here for updates and thanks for supporting me and Team in Training!

As a side note, I'm continually amazed at everyone's reaction to the fundraising. I receive phone calls and notes from people apologizing for the "small" donation, but yet these wonderful people still donate. I appreciate it all, I really do. Thank you to everyone!
